Located in the East Village area of downtown San Diego, Hive Sushi Lounge serves delicious and affordable sushi. This restaurant is hidden away and one must take a staircase down to their underground dining area in order to be seated. With the restaurant’s location partially underground, the vibes are hip, urban, and very unique for a sushi bar. This San Diego sushi spot encompasses one of the best sushi happy hours in the downtown area.
Why we Love Hive
With its low profile, it is usually easy to walk-in and immediately be seated either at the bar or a table. Their booth seating is neat and intimate. The small booths are in the shape of a moon, which makes dinner conversation cozy, easy, and romantic. We have never seen booths like these ones! In addition, this sushi restaurant has a lot of space. There is an additional room for big parties and events. They also offer sushi lessons for groups of up to twelve people, which is another fun way to celebrate an occasion.
The Menu/Happy Hour:
The Hive happy hour delivers both great deals and yummy food. Off of the happy hour menu, we recommend ordering the garlic edamame, seaweed salad, spicy tuna hand roll, and salmon nigiri. When dining during non-happy hours we still give the previous recommendations plus the Yo! Roll. This roll is one of a kind and the small slice of lemon at the top adds a special flavor to the sushi creation.
